4th - Photo Show at the Arts Council Center: Galva Arts Council Photo Show Date Moving Back to July 4
The annual Photo Show conducted by the Galva Arts Council has been changed back to its previous July 4th date as a part of Freedom Fest in Galva. We tried something different last year but due to lack of participation, decided to move it back to the 4th of July. The Photo Show is open to all photographers. Competitive categories include children, beginner, advanced, professional, and a theme category. The theme category this year is Pure Joy. Only the photographs submitted in the theme category must represent images that they feel represent pure joy. All other categories are open subjects.
Photographs must be framed and ready to be hung, but images can be no larger than 11 x 14 inches or panoramic up to 20 inches in length. Frames cannot be the type with the fold-out stand on the back. If the photograph is not framed, it cannot be accepted.
Photographs will be accepted at the Arts Council building at 130 North Exchange in Galva from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 17 and from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 18. An entry fee of $6.00 ($4.00 for Arts Council members) will be charged for each photograph entered in the show. Photographs will be professionally judged.
Awards and/or ribbons for each category of photographers will be presented at the arts council building at approximately 11 a.m. on July 4. Photographs may be viewed from 10:00 a.m. until 3 p.m. on July 4. Refreshments will be served. Photographers should pick up their entries between 3- 4 p.m. on July 4. If this isn’t possible, please make arrangements for another time. If you have questions, please call Melissa Fox at 309-337-3412. This will be Melissa’s last year for organizing the Photo show. We ask that any professional or experienced photographers that are interested in helping organize next years Photo Show, please contact Melissa. Get your photographs ready early for this great event!
